What is the difference between Follow Along and Self-Paced, and how do I switch?
Quick answer: Follow Along is a continuous guided video with your trainer. Self-Paced is a list of exercises you work through at your own speed. You choose during onboarding and can switch at any time from Profile.
Follow Along
A continuous guided video with your trainer.
Set length; lengths vary by workout.
Can be completed at home or in a gym.
Can be sent to a TV or Mac with AirPlay on iPhone or iPad (casting is not available on Android).
Controls: skip a section, jump 15 seconds back or forward, adjust music and trainer volume, end or resume the workout.
Self-Paced
A list of exercises, each with a demo video and description.
Choose 30 min or 60 min and Gym or At Home at the top of the workout page. The exercise list updates to match. These options appear only where the program allows them; some postpartum workouts (Levels 1 and 2) have a set time and are at home only.
Work through the list at your own speed. Log your reps or effort for each exercise; tap Autofill to reuse last session's numbers.
Swap an exercise: in list view, exercises with alternatives show a Swap button. Tap it to replace the exercise with one that suits you better.
Switch between video view and list view with the toggle at the top left.
Switch styles
Tap Profile.
Tap the style dropdown below your due or delivery date (shows Follow Along or Self-Paced).
Select a style, then tap Save.
Your program and progress do not change; only the format of your program workouts changes.
⚠️ Note: This setting applies to your program workouts on the Today tab. Classes, Series, and Extra Support are always guided videos. |
