Returning to running and high impact after birth
Quick answer: ACOG does not set a timeline for returning to running or vigorous exercise after birth. It says a return to regular workouts may be possible soon after birth and that you should talk with your ob-gyn first.
What ACOG says
ACOG's exercise after pregnancy FAQ: "If you followed a vigorous-intensity exercise program before pregnancy, it may be possible to return to your regular workouts soon after the baby is born. Be sure to talk with your obstetrician–gynecologist (ob-gyn) first." It also says: "Stop exercising if you feel pain."

Committee Opinion 804: "Exercise routines may be resumed gradually after pregnancy as soon as medically safe, depending on the mode of delivery (vaginal or cesarean birth) and the presence or absence of medical or surgical complications."
